Happy Monday to you and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Today is a great day for those of us who have federal or banking jobs because we get the day off! Amongst all the happiness though, I’m sad to report that we have lost a dear, dear friend in the Nikon World of off-camera flash. The Nikon SB800 Speedlight we loved so dearly appears to no longer be on store shelves or in stock on the websites of the most popular photo gear dealers in the USA.
That’s right, the SB800 has been DISCONTINUED! Giving way to the SB900 (which is $440.00 at B&H right now), the SB800 that has served so many photogs, and served them well is gone. We will now be left to scrounge eBay and Craigslist in search of my favorite, ultra-portable light source.
I’m sure you will be able to find them around until finally all the new models have been sold, but not at the price of $320.00 that B&H sold them for. I had plans on picking up a couple of them before they were gone but I never got around to it. So I’ll either have to scour the web in search of them or pony up the cash for some SB900s.
Sorry to end today’s post on a low note, but it’s just a sad, sad day.
