The week has come and gone and the weekend is here! I’m posting later than usual today because I had to make a day trip down to Newport, RI. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for a photo shoot. Regardless, I wanted to be sure that I got my post for today on my blog because I have something really cool for you that I recently learned how to do in Photoshop and Lightroom.
The image on the left is one that I shot for a Sailor that I know. (I know a few, by the way.) Anyway I was reading Scott Kelby’s blog yesterday and noticed that he had posted an article about how to get the “Dave Hill” look. Although this probably isn’t exactly the same technique that photographer Dave Hill uses, the desired effect is achieved. That effect is the almost “painted” feel that your images get when you use this hot little trick in Photoshop or Lightroom. Keep in mind that this won’t always work with every image, but with some “tweaking and peaking” you can get some incredible results out of it.
Now, I won’t bother to re-write Scott’s article here so here’s the link so you can check it out for yourself. Let me know how your images turn out once you play with this effect. Have a great weekend everybody and I’ll see you on Monday!
